QUALIFYING TIMES

Swimmers who qualify in one or more events may also enter the 200m Backcrawl, 200m Breaststroke and/or 200m Butterfly irrespective of qualifying times.  However, training or competition times MUST be entered for those swimmers.  Entries with NT will NOT be accepted.

Eligibility:

Open to all eligible, current Swim Ireland registered competitive members who achieve the qualification standards. Entry Standards must have been achieved in Open Competition in the preceding fifteen months. Only times which appear on the national database will be accepted. Times will only be accepted for the National Database when Electronic Timing is in operation. A fine of €50 will apply to swimmers who fail to achieve the standard for the entered
event and who cannot provide proof that they achieved the standard for the event since the required date. Irish Open
title holders are entitled to enter so as to defend their title. Entries are also accepted from overseas swimmers. Members of other federations may be required to verify their age.

There will be a maximum of 4 foreign swimmers permitted to swim in each final (A & B final where applicable).

• Swimmers with ONE Qualifying Time will be permitted to enter TWO additional event from the following list:
  200m backstroke, 200m breaststroke, 200m butterfly, 400m freestyle, 400m IM provided they have achieved
  the consideration standard in Open Competition
• Swimmers with TWO Qualifying Time will be permitted to enter ONE additional event from the following list:
  200m backstroke, 200m breaststroke, 200m butterfly, 400m freestyle, 400m IM provided they have achieved
  the consideration standard in Open Competition
• All other swimmers may enter ONLY the events they have qualified in
• No swimmer will be accepted with NT as a time.

A swimmer who has achieved an Irish Age Groups Championships & Summer Open time in ANY event in the fifteen months prior to that year’s Division 2 competition IS NOT permitted to enter Division 2. Should a swimmer enter Division 2 and subsequently achieve an Irish Age Groups Championships & Summer Open time before the start date of Division 2, their entry for Division 2 will be returned. Entry fees can be refunded, or carried forward to the Irish Age
Groups Championships.

If a club is found to have entered a swimmer in Division 2 who has achieved an Irish Age Group Championships & Summer Open qualifying time then the club will be levied with a fine of €500.

The Grade A Standard can be achieved in one of the following ways:

1. Achieve the 200m Freestyle qualifying time and the 200m Individual Medley qualifying time
2. Achieve the 200m Freestyle qualifying time and two of the other 100m events(either 100m Backstroke or 100m Breaststroke or 100m Butterfly qualifying time).
3. Achieve the 200m Individual Medley qualifying time and two of the other 100m events(either 100m Backstroke or 100m Breaststroke or 100m Butterfly qualifying time).

At Grade B galas, swimmers must swim a minimum of 3 events. Swimmers MUST compete in the 200m Freestyle and two other 100m events.

All events are Heat Declared Winner (HDW).

Swimmers who achieve the Grade A standard can no longer compete at Grade B competitions.

The Grade B Standard can be achieved in one of the following ways:

1. Achieve both the 100m Freestyle and the 100m Individual Medley qualifying times.
2. Achieve the 100m Freestyle qualifying time + any two of 50m Backstroke or 50m Breaststroke or 50m Butterfly.
3. Achieve the 100m Individual Medley qualifying time + any two of 50m Backstroke or 50m Breaststroke or 50m Butterfly.

At Grade C galas, swimmers must swim a minimum of 2 events(100m Freestyle and 100m IM) and a maximum of 5 events.

Swimmers who achieve the Grade B standard can no longer compete at Grade C competitions.
